Luxury RVs WA Caravan & Camping show was held on the 5th to the 7th of April 2019 and was a roaring success!
This event was a true statement as to the benefits and potential of solar gain for the caravanning industry.
Our innovative solar powered caravan attracted plenty of attention and for all the right reasons.
Let us tell you a little about what happened and why the event was an electrifying success!
A Three Day Open Air Display
Our state of the art fully electric caravan, which relies purely on solar power, was on display for three days solid.
Our main goal with this innovative, fully electric caravan, is to test it out by taking it around Australia without having to plug it back into the grid.
However, in the meantime, while on display at the Luxury RVs WA Caravan and Camper Show, we really put this baby to the test.
“The results were absolutely amazing and totally exceeded our expectations and the expectations of our visitors.”
All in all, a whopping 214 people were able to experience what this caravan was capable of as we put it to the ultimate test.
These lucky visitors got to see first hand the benefits of a fully electric caravan.
The Experience For Visitors
In the lead up to the show, the weather was cloudy and overcast. This brought the battery State-of-Charge to the lowest it had ever been, 66.2%.
Taking into consideration the low battery state at the beginning of the show, the experience enjoyed by visitors was a truly remarkable one.
Luckily, during the event itself, the weather came good providing plenty of solar energy and of course, this also made it fairly hot!
However, this in itself highlighted one of the major benefits of the fully electric caravan. We had the aircon running full bore for the whole 3 days and was still able to charge the battery to 78.9% SoC!
This one feature made a significant impression as visitors stepped out of the hot and humid conditions into the cool and refreshing atmosphere of the van.
Let’s just reiterate here for a moment – the van wasn’t plugged into any grid power at all and was relying purely on solar gain.
This in itself was impressive, to say the least! ??your trying to convince me??
Of course, it wasn’t just the cool temperatures of the AC that visitors got to enjoy when they stepped into the van for the first time.
Aside from the aircon, we had other electrical appliances such as the TV, kettle and toaster being used on a constant basis.
This was done to show visitors what really is possible without a hint of grid power.
There’s no doubt it would have been hard for the punters to go away without being truly amazed by what they had witnessed and experienced.
This will surely leave them all thinking about the effect it will have on the industry as a whole.
Not to mention the impact it could potentially have on them personally and their future caravaning days.
Another factor that would’ve made a considerable impression on the minds of visitors was the finishing battery charge.
Despite all that was thrown at the caravan, the finishing battery charge was a very healthy 78.9% compared to the starting charge of 66.2%.
Bearing in mind that the AC had been running constantly, as well as all the other electrical accessories, this figure certainly highlighted the potential of what this van represents.
The next step of the journey is to head to Laverton, 860 kms inland from Perth, before this van will, of course, have a full check up inside and out.
We will absolutely be keeping you posted on this impressive and exciting developments in the world of caravans as our journey continues.
